
The Virginia Horticultural Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that provides educational programs to assist
and inform the general public and professionals in effective and
efficient horticultural pursuits, landscaping, environmental
concerns and general gardening activities.
Two separate events are sponsored each year –
The Virginia Flower & Garden Show
and the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture
Short Course.
The Virginia Flower & Garden Show
is a 3-day event that enhances public awareness of the benefits of
horticultural activities, displays new and efficient techniques in
gardening, and presents a variety of landscape displays in a fun,
educational setting. The 2008 Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show
will be produced in conjunction with the Tidewater Builder
Association (TBA) from February 14 – 17, 2008, at the Virginia Beach
Convention Center.
Mid-Atlantic Horticulture Short
Course provides seminars, lectures and presentations by
horticultural experts on proper horticultural techniques,
environmental sensitivity, pesticide certification and overall
instruction in proper care for soil, landscaping and particular
varieties of flowers, shrubs and trees for professionals. The 2008
conference will be held at The Founders Inn and Spa, conveniently
located off I-64 (Exit 286B) in Virginia Beach. The dates are
January 27 – February 1, 2008.
The Foundation has undertaken the following charitable activities:

Fundraising for charitable causes

Maintenance of endowment funds

Sponsorship of the annual Virginia Flower &
Garden Show

Sponsorship of an annual Mid-Atlantic
Horticulture Short Course

Scholarships for horticulture students
Funds in excess of that required to carry out
the activities of the Foundation are used to provide scholarships, grants and
gifts to qualified individuals and groups.
